What's Better Than a Good Deal?

What's better than a good deal? A rain check for a good deal! Our freezers (yes, freezers - one chest, one in the kitchen refrig. and one in the old fridge in the garage) are full but Harris Teeter had Totino's Pizza Rolls 10/$10. With a doubled coupon, that would be .20/box. Nice but no room! I planned to get one or two boxes and stuff them in somewhere. Luck was on my side and they didn't have a single box so I got the rain check. No expiration date either. Yeah!

You Say Toe-may-toh; I Say Toe-mah-toh

Hubby went to the store for this one. Safeway is having a savings rally where you get a catalina for $20 off your next purchase when you buy 25 participating items. I've done this deal several times for Rice-a-Roni, fruit rollups, jelly, chili, trash bags and popcorn. Lots of good deals, but tonight we got a GREAT deal. We bought canned tomatoes. 25 cans for $25 - $2 in coupons - the $20 off catalina from the last purchase = $3+tax. About 12 cents a can. Wish I would have thought about this more because I would have had him get more!

Now, does anyone have a good salsa recipe with canned tomatoes?

Someone Better Start Brown Bagging!

The same deal at Safeway (buy 5 Hillshire Farms meats/Sara Lee bread, get $10 OYNO) but this time with lunch meat. It was on sale for $2. So free except tax. Stopped to get a couple more ketchups in case that deal was still going on. It was! (64 ozs. of ketchup for 1.50)

Picked up the kids and went back because it looked like the meat was going fast. Put my coat on so that I might not be remembered. 5 meats, 2 ketchups for 1.58. I went to different line than when I checked out before but the cashier was the same. She didn't say anything (whew!)

Hillshire Farms

2/5 - I read about a deal involving Hillshire Farms meat and Sara Lee bread. Buy 5 get $10 OYNO. I got up, got dressed and went to Safeway at 9:45 at night because the deal was ending that evening! I don't do anything at 9:45; I'm usually fast asleep by then.

Anyway, 5 packages of precooked bacon @ $3 each=$15 - $10 OYNO=$5 and not a single coupon used. I also read that you were getting a catalina for $1.50 OYNO when you bought 2 Heinz Ketchups. That worked too!

Took the stuff out to the car and went back in. Got more bacon and ketchup. Wanted to fly below the radar so I went to a different cashier. The first thing she said to me was 'Weren't you just here?'. So much for flying low! Anyway, I told her the deal was too good and that she might just see me again.

Round three is where I 'mixed it up'. I got hot dogs instead. They were $2.50 so .50/package when the deal was done (plus more ketchup).

They Paid Me to Take It!

This will probably be a reoccurring title!

CVS had a 3 pack of Dial foaming hand soap for 1.74 and you got $2 in extra bucks back. There were 3 at the store and the cashier wanted one so I got the other two. It's worth it to keep her happy!

Super Bowl - Super Deal

Super Bowl Sunday - 2/3/08
I had two coupons for a free 12 pack of soda from Coke Rewards. Safeway had a deal, buy 2 get 3 free. Each 12-pack was 5.69 and the coupon said max value of 5.04. I thought I was going to have a little money out of pocket but it was worth a couple bucks for that much soda.

Nope! Went to the register, 5 12 packs were rung up and then she took the coupons. Each coupon scanned as 5.69! I paided .28 for sixty (yes, 60, no typo) cans of soda! That's like .005 cents each!
